A correspondent sent us his communication written in copying Ink or Ordinary Ink with sugar in it. City Council. Tuesday dec. 7th, 1875. How it was done Don t seem to be thoroughly understood but a special meeting of the Council was called on a few hours notice for last evening and there was just exactly a quorum present. Alderman. The business was Tho passing of a progressive estimate of work on the City Hall and the amount was ordered to be paid. All of which being done and completed the Council adjourned. The excellent choir of the congregation will Render several musical selections during the evening. A collection will be taken up at the close of the meeting in Aid of the missionary operations of the Church. From notices in our column during the summer it would appear that the presbyterian Church is determined to do its share in ministering to the spiritual wants of the North West. Four new missionaries have been sent to this province during the summer and one to fort Pelly and the Swan River District. The Church has also sent one to labor among the Plain Cree indians and have employed a pure blooded Sioux who was ordained some years ago by the american presbyterian Church As a missionary among the Sioux in the neighbourhood of fort Ellice. Four new ministers into our province and three out Side in the course of one summer and that when Little or nothing can be done in some cases from local sources towards their sup port this year is a sad record for a Church with such a High ministerial Standard As the presbyterian.
