Tho session of the legislative Assembly which was brought to a close to Day has been twice As Long As that of last year and not by any Means unfruitful. The caution administered by the on the opening Day in the speech from the throne has certainly not been disregarded a most sincere desire having been evinced to fulfil the spirit of his Honor s suggestion that in View of the abolition of the upper chamber ample consideration should be bestowed up on All Bills introduced in the House. Though the government have been supported by a Large majority of the members no Endeavor has been made to Cut Oil discussion upon any subject by Tho employment of those parliamentary devices which custom has sanctioned to meet contingencies when their legitimate employment becomes absolutely necessary. The course of the opposition has been marked by an evident purpose to delay and obstruct rather than criticise and improve Tho government measures introduced. The debates have consequently been sometimes extremely wearisome owing to Tho repetition of ideas and arguments necessitated by the practice of against which has been no unimportant feature in the strategy employed. That the government have exorcised so much patience notwithstanding the powerful majority they Lead is certainly a proof of no inconsiderable magnanimity.
