Winram was an Active Church worker and on Many occasions represented his District at the anglican synods of the of Ruperts land held in Winnipeg. About the elections. Toronto world in Spito of the fact that most every Canadian takes an intercut be re Neon or another in politics and especially in Dominion great Many people o not keep in mind the precise facts in to Ard to the composition of the House of Coin ions. There Are in the House of commons 15 members of whom the province of on Ario contributes Tho province of Quebec 5, Nova Scotia 21, now Brunswick Columbia a Prince Edward Island 6, Mani Oba 5 and the Northwest territories 4, Here Are quite a number of members whose political views Are very Clear or Well defined some of whom Are nationalists some conservative nationalists some Fol depend its and some equal Rig tors a a Rule however even these members adhere pretty strictly except perhaps in regard to one or to issues to one or other of the political is ties. Of the whole number of members 32 Are More or less closely bound together in he conservative party while 83 formed the Liberal Side of the House. There never has Een a full House and in is very Seldom in deed Thau there Are not from a dozen to n score of members a jct. Tho largest division recorded in the House list session was we believe on sir John Thompson s amendment to the in regard to he French language question when 199 Mem jots voted on one bide or the other. The majority in favor of the amendment on this occasion was 99, but this was not a party division the parties being Well represented in thei deaf the question. In another Divi Sion upon the same question 180 members voted of whom 63 voted one Way and 117 the other showing a majority of 5-1, but neither was h straight party division. On such uce Lens As those of Supply Nebito on Corn Cus oms Reform and the amendment of the do minion election which Wero All purely Larty questions Tho government s majority aged from 31 to 43 in of from 152 to members. The contest is Huron. Toronto world the reformers up in Huron have a delicate Job in hand. John Mcmillan the old member for Tho South Riding stands Square in the path of the machine which cannot pass him and dare no t run Over him. The party has been ing a false Hope for four years that John would make Way for some vigorous boy Liko m. C. Cameron or a l. Mclean of Tho Seiforth expositor. But John is anxious to succeed himself. In West Huron m. C. Cameron is Alao after nomination and Boish he and a. H. Manning a Clinton Law yer have Laid several Miles of pipe. The present scheme is to somehow retire John Mcmillan suppress m. Y. Mclean and let Cameron run in South Huron and Manning in West Huron. If this fails then Manning wih probably succumb to Tho Superior Strat egy of m. 0. Ruberti Porter the conservative member for the West Riding is getting in his Bend licks expecting a Hob tight but tinal Vic tory whoever opposes him. The l18t6 Ahe Liberal Toronto news there is one fact which not be overlooked in estimating the probable result. The liberals undoubtedly gamed on the last revision of the lists. Tho conform natives accepted Chapleau s statement Ana reserved their strength for Tho third Revi which it was expected would come before polling and in this they pot left. In London thc3 Liber als Are snid to Havo trained from 150 to 200 on the lists which must now be used and in East York any Biro from 300 to 600. These Aro bub samples. F then the lib ends in anticipation of the provincial elections which Camo on in 18so, paid close attention to the provincial list of 1889, and these lists wite largely copied in the Federal revision of year. Herein they secured another gain. Trib conservatives if they want to win must Light As they never did before. Tho Odds on the lists Aro clearly Ogai them. The Conoho in Kingston will be a close one. In 1878 or. A. Gunn Defeated sir John a. Mock Donald and in 1882 or. Sullivan sir John offering in another constituency in 1887 sir John and or. Gunn met again and the Premier won by 17 votes. Or. Gunn was at that time in Europe. The contest is Between there candidates again this time. Bradlaugh s successor. Northampton trebly increased Bloj orly. London feb. Or. Mansfield Liberal candidate was elected in Northampton to Day by a vote of 5.73g, Germaine Conser pc receiving Bradlaugh Liberal in Tho same constituency had a majority a the Zinsli election of 697. A Lection or. Mills will run again in Bothwell. A Bye election a North Bruce will be held March 3rd. If Hon. Edward Blake does not run for Wess Durham his brother Hon. S. , will get the nomination. There will to 43 polling stations in Winni Peg at the coming election. At the lust election there were Only 22.
