The total loss is estimated at Between one million and a half to two million dollars. There were 500 persons in the museum when the fire burst out in the rear of the stage. There was an immediate rash and while the people were struggling to get out tongues of flame leaped from one Side of the narrow stage to the other. After the burned buildings had gone to pieces the firemen concentrated their efforts on the Haymarket theatre building which waa.
