Edward Eves methodist missionary at Norway House gave a Brief address last evening at the Grace Church prayer meeting on his work among the indians of the North. He mentioned that he had been three years missionary and that Point and that while he travelled some 400 Miles to reach Winnipeg he also travelled nearly 400 Miles beyond his Mission House in the performance of his duties. He said the time he had spent on the Norway House Mission had seemed exceedingly Short and he Felt quite at Home there. The work of the lord was Papfi resins the indians Wera exceedingly devotional. He gave incidents illustrating the impressiveness of their sacramental services and prayer meetings. The Indian he said is naturally eloquent. The style of the decorations around the cat Falque was entirely English and the various arrange ments were carried out with the precision characteristic of British military matters. At half past four a Short service was by Rev. Canon Pentreath chaplain of the 91st battalion Rev. A. W. Goulding chaplain of the Penitentiary Reading the lesson which was from the loth chapter of 1st corinthians. Rav. Canon Matheson Folso Tonk part in the services. The coffin was then carried out on the shoulders of the pall bearer placed upon a gun Carriage and covered with flags Floral offerings and the helmet and sword of the de ceased. The order of the profusion was then formed As follows firing party consisting of the Royal school of mounted infantry the 90th band the cavalry band Tho gun Carriage with the Soffin followed by the late colonel s horse covered with Black j the men and officers of Tho 91st battalion the 90th battalion the Winnipeg Field Battery the Winnipeg troop of cavalry tie Deputy adjutant general and staff the veterans of the Wolseley expedition the warders of the Penitentiary the lieutenant governor and members of the local govern ment citizens in carriages and on foot. The route of the procession waa along Broadway to Kennedy Street along Ken Nedy Street to Portage Avenue along Portage Avenue to main Street and thence to St. John s cemetery. The streets were lined with spectators and Many accompanied the pro cession the whole distance. The bands played the dead March in Saul a the procession moved slowly Forward. The services at the grave were conducted by Rev. Canon Pentreath and the metropolitan of Jan pert s land and at Bra conclusion the usual three volleys were fired firing party.
