The deceased was a Veteran of the British army which he joined in 1852, being attached to the 60th rifles. He weat to India in 1853, and served through the Indian Mutiny and obtained a medal and clasp for Delhi for meritorious conduct. His returned Home in i860, and in 1866 16 was allowed to Volunteer for the Dyal Canadian bibles in which he served until 1870, when he joined the forces of the red River expedition under colonel now general Wolsey and came to port Garry. On the disband ment of command be took his discharge and remained in the country. Twelve years ago he was appointed a turnkey in the provincial jail and held the position until his Leath.
