Manitoba feet press Wiki leg a today september 3, 1920 Western news old of wheat Gilbert Plains with. Dauphin and should. Average 3.8 to 20 bushels Hind ill. The Bank of to j Bris h Sun. Making the very enjoyable one mrs. Mccharles Murray District re and Secretary of the agricultural society made Dauphin. Web struck North j tour Miles then turned West to the Ethelbert Ridge which is really the dividing line Between the Dauphin and Gilbert Plains districts. East of the Ridge we found More severe rust than i had anticipated from my wednesday trip to the North and East. 1 his is probably due to the fact that part at least of this territory suffered from the Hail storm Early in the reason and though the crop came again it was less advanced when the rust struck it. Stands in the Fields Are heavy but Heads Are poorly filled and the Sample is much shrunken m Many Fields. Some of the earlier Fields were better filled but there will be a Good Many disappointments at threshing time As is always the Cuse when rust occurs. Rust damage not very bad crossing the Plains into the Gil Bert Plains District to found Many stands of Oats and big Fields of wheat which had apparently been earlier than East of the Ridge and i with Clear round some rust in practically every Field it had not done so much damage and yields were fair and the Sample not too badly shrunken. We stopped in town for a few min utes and found that the first wheat Lor the season had just been marketed. The Lucky owner had threshed it both to have paid More attention to and1 there Are some very Fine oat crops one or two on new break ing being exceptionally heavy and giving Promise of 75 to 30 bushels to the acre. Average from 18 to 20 bushels speaking broadly of the territory covered today the country to the South like the country immediately to the South and West. Of Dauphin which was visited wednesday is much Freer from rust and generally 3. Very fair food crop. 1 would say that the three districts of Dauphin Gilbert Plains and Grandview May on for a average yield of from is to. 20 bushels of wheat Over the territory. Thin is rather a Small average for these districts but would certainly look pretty Good to the districts in southwestern Mani Toba and Saskatchewan. A Good Deal of stacking is being in Gilbert Plains and Grandview and indeed if All the rusted wheat was stacked and sweated it would help the Grade materially. It will take two or three Days yet for crops to dry from monday s Rains but threshing will be general All Over these districts by monday next. In All the country seen today the is excellent lots of Hay has been put up and cattle Are in Good condition. In spite of a Little rust and a. Few streaks of Hail it is a mighty prosperous North country. Twenty four bushels to the acre. Had a framed no. 1 Northcar and to sold on the basis of ?2.80 fort wll Han. Or Roa Lily 52.68 Gilbert Plains this crop was South of the town. I from Gilbert Plain we took the i River Grandview. Went two Miles North of that town and turned East i prot Miles until we were about eight Miles due North of Gilbert Plains when we turned South went straight through that and live Miles Gouth. And Mcce More turned East into Dauphin. We saw enormous areas of crop and sampled Many Fields. Grandview noun try is practically identical with Gilbert Plains with possibly a Little less rust in the North and Heads somewhat better filled while All the South country is decidedly better than the North. Gil Bert Plains and Grandview seem much stacking being done around Dauphin by e. Cora Hind Dauphin man., sept. Afternoon i motored 27 Miles around Dauphin making a Circle South West North and East. Practically All the crop is in Stook and before. The heavy rain of monday afternoon some threshing had been done. Very considerable stacking is be ing Dono this year especially by men farming on a Large scale and on quite a number of farms we saw stacks standing and men ploughing the Fields from which the Grain Hue been gathered. Monday s rain while it bus held up threshing for a i new Days has made Che land Ideal for ploughing. Dauphin District got very Little ploughing done last fall and apparently is talking time
