Flye tells members efforts to obtain co operation of municipal Tieb and the provincial government to put through a Drain age scheme within the Winnipeg District May be renewed by the City according to discussion at yesterday afternoon s meeting of the Public improvements committee. Replying to complaints from aldermen of Ward three that water now was flowing into the Northwest Corner from the Viewly sprung lakes to the North of the City the City Engineer stated it impossible to keep Tho water Back without some ditching scheme. He maintained the Only effective Way of protecting the City against the annual invasion of surface Waters from the surrounding Plains was to undertake the ditching scheme pro posed two years ago. Aid. Flye an used Tho committee the whole scheme together with reports from govern ment engineers and the City Engineer t7as at hand and urged taking the matter up with Tho government again. He was of the opinion the City and government should put through tha drainage scheme whether the municipalities were prepared to pay the costs or not As it was to the in Terest of Tho whole District to carry Oft the surface water.
