Montreal reports that despite a seasonable quiet in some depart ments there is a steady movement of dry goods clothing footwear Gro Ceries and other Staples and it is boing confidently predicted that Mie Promise of Good crops in almost every Section will result in materially increased business activity with the ending of the vacation period. Collections Are improving. Business in most lines is about average in volume at Quebec for this period but the crops Are making satisfactory Progress and indications Are believed favourable for a Good fall Trade. Collections Are fairly , Toronto collections better the Toronto and in its visit Ltd has not been altogether favourable but a satisfactory movement of dry goods furnishings footwear is reported and there is a steady de Mand for hardware paints furniture and farm supplies.
