Bain marred yesterday s matches in the Manitoba Tennis championships and Only Hull the games scheduled could be played. This necessitates doubling up in Many cases in tin. Men singles and doubles and some of the players will have four matches provided they win their Early draws. With a Little co operation on the part of the competitors this will be quite feasible. Some of the matches drawn in the men s singles were played during continual downfall of rain and Gordon Pirt proved himself better suited to the heavy going than Bonnycastle Ana was victorious in three sets. The Tennis was quite Good in View of the Adverse conditions and the players were Well matched. Vic Patton and Norman Lewis resumed hostilities and Vic was successful this time by a score of 8-0, 3-6, 0-1, after an interesting bout featured by Many Long rallies. Gordon Wren continued his Good work and extended Jack Mccaughan to three sets. With a Little More experience Wert will be a much improved player Ana will Bear watching. To form Fine Tennis one of the few doubles of the Day provided some of the Best Tennis when Brookes Simpson beat Martin Crowder. With a Little More Chance of playing together the latter pair would perhaps j have won As they were in the Lead at 5-3 in the third Sot and eventually lost Only at 9-7. Burritt Mcle ocl also won a Long three set match against Lonix Orr annexing the third set 8-6. Some of the Junior played very Good Tennis in the Early draws and the re sults in most matches were close in the extreme. The Chicago boys revelled in the wet going in the late afternoon and Weber played some splendid Tennis to defeat Art Oliver 6-1, 6-0. The latter was playing Well throughout but could not handle Weber s Well placed service while the Way in which Weber handled Oliver s hardest serves indicated a com plete command of All the strokes. Roy Weir also won handily from Bart nos worthy and showed Fine Mastery Over the Ball. His1 service was very Good and he showed no apparent weakness at any Point in his game. Mclaughlin and Johnson did not play due to Tho rain and will consequently have two singles matches today. There Are so Many Good matches drawn for today that it is impossible to pick out any for special comment.
