In such districts As Abernethy in Saskatchewan where Rye is a specially returns were very Good. The largest acreages of flax Are in Saskatchewan and a Good Many of these in on Spring breaking a pernicious lorm of Agri culture which however this year received a Reward tar above its deserts in very Good yields that in the Raa Jorty of districts ripened fairly Early. In others however these Fields were late and Are seriously frosted. Frosted tax is neither Good for Man or beast and most unfortunately Many of these late Fields on Spring breaking Are exceedingly weedy so that the now land is fouled before it Lias Ever produced a crop. Weeds. One or the serious features of the crop year of 1928 has been the extreme prevalence of weeds and More especially wild. Cots. These evil geniuses Are everywhere present and have very seriously curtailed yields in very Large areas and indeed a number of crops have had to be sacrificed in an attempt to curb their further spread. In spite of this however., vast numbers of them have seeded and Tallyn to the ground in. Advance of the ripening the legitimate and Are lying in Walt a menace to future crops. Fodder crops. Hay As a Rule is a Good crop and an immense amount of both wild and cultivated Hay been put up for Winter. Sweet cover have both done very Well and the growing of Sweet Clover Lias shown a marked increase. The seann on the whole has been rather too Cool for Corn and Many of the Fieric s. Have been caught by Frost but Whie the percentage of matured Corn will. Not be Large there is plenty of Lusi Hige. The fishing. The reports from correspondents indicate that there is less threshing done than might have been expected at this Date. This is due in some measure no doubt to the very largely increased use of combines and Swath ers and the necessary waiting until the crop is More fully mature than would be necessary with binders. The year will to some extent at least prove a testing time for this new machinery and also a testing time for the patience of the Farmers. The advice of the Salesman said when your crop is where you would ordinarily Cut it with a Binder go away and fish for a couple of wan probably sound As some of the Farmers have certainly used both. And combines too boo ii for Good trading of to bulk or cat. Manitoba has the largest percentage of threshing done As was.
