With hem he had wealth for Harry Sii ton the Cut ure had j Jet one heavy Cloud. Nature had i Nice him that one tiling which wealth could not Tuiai one tiling which unconquered must 1asii that. He was the finest Democrat i Ever knew. A Rich Man himself there was nothing it despised so much As a Rich Man who because of his wealth expected deference and was inclined to throw his weight about. If by some Miracle there could overnight have been established a communist or socialist state of society in which everybody would be permitted to earn no More than a year nobody i know would have More easily and cheer fully adapted himself to the new order than Harry Sifton. He could i be generously tolerant of a poverty stricken scoundrel but not for a j Rich one. In no possible line up would he have been found in Ilie Camp of the Rich and privileged As Long As there was another Camp which he might enter. It was no 812 Wolseley Avenue a resident of this City for the past 40 years whose death occurred saturday in the Gen eral Hospital age 67 years. Holding on to the Canoe very Well but the water was so cold and the exertions we were making to. Keep the can steady and to help it along were very tiring to us All. Several times both Johnny and i would ask if if he were o.k., but he would not say anything. Bert was in very poor condition with his feet tangled and was not very hopeful of our condition. Drifted 45 minutes we had drifted for easily three quarters of. An hour when the Waves rolled the Canoe again putting us All in the water. Alf came up about 10 feet from the boat and appeared to be swimming toward the approaching Shore about 40 Yards off. Both Johnny and i yelled at him to come . He turned around and looked at us then turned toward Shore then Sank. At the time he Sank the Canoe was rolling steadily Johnny was More or less holding Bert and i was steadying the Canoe As Best i could. Neither of us could have swam to where Alf Sank and dived for him. As we were entirely exhausted. We touched Bottom about seven minutes later As t in Canoe drifted faster. We then got it on a Rock and had to look after Bert who had lost his reason for the moment. We m Larson Sank to his death within 40 Yards of land would have become a dominant Fig trouble for him to make Money a ure in Canada s Public life Given thing that used to amuse him. He health and strength the heir to it considerable estate he could have Given himself Over to a life of ease such As Many who suffered from physical handicaps would have chosen. To Felt however that the administration of the family affairs him on his a. Nature riot Only of a family Trust but a Call to which devolved upon father s death was in gives vivid tragedy in which Young Winnipeg Ger died massaged ourselves to a slight degree of warmth and then looked after Bert getting him stripped and warm. Johnny and i returned to the Beach and searched diligently but Alf had made no reappearance. For the next two hours we were engaged in trying to find a riddles looking for Alt and seeing that Bert was All right. We broke into one of the closed Cabins and got oars. We found a Rowboat and eventually went to Osborne s. We ate then crossed to or. Mann s Island and his Boatman took us to town to report the drowning. We notified the local Constable. He of i said he would make dragging arrange us i ments. We then telephoned or. Jack and my Mother. After a considerable i delay we could not get any of Alf s 1 friends in the City so i phoned to Millen. This morning we started bragging but with no results. Operations will that we could do anything More at the time than we did. We will stay at the Osborne s until the body is recovered and arrangements completed.
