Elizabeth Thompson hot weather fails to Dampen the Energy of Young people and they enjoy strenuous part ies even in the dog Days As this letter shows dear mrs. Thompson i am planning to have a Scaven Ger Hunt in about two weeks about ten couples. Should i Tell the boys to bring a girl or invite All the guests myself then pair them off for the Hunt would you please give me a list of things to look for our Ages will be from 18 to 21. Maggie. It is much better for the hostess to invite ail the guests herself. However if you know that cer Tain bo3 s Are interested in girls who Don t belong to your crowd ask them if they would like to bring somebody. You Don t say whether the scavenger Hunt will be conducted in cars or on foot. It makes a big difference in the amount of territory which can be covered comfortably. However a successful Hunt can be staged either Way. The Point to j remember is not to include articles which would mean too much walk ing or driving. As you probably know a scavenger party gathers at the hostess Home and is divided into couples or groups for Hunting in cars groups of four Are usual. Then a list of 20 articles to be hunted is handed to each Leader rules Are Laid Down and a time set for re turning to the rendezvous. After that the Hunt is on. The More fantastic you make your list the More fun it will be. Possibilities Are autograph of a school principal Alderman or other prominent Citi Zens Check up and see if they Are in town before putting them on the a Grey Horsehair a left handed pair of men s Cor sets Transfer from a certain car line december Issue of a popular Magazine an Orange cat a Bird 3ee, it must be wonderful to a screen Star if you girls Only knew being a screen Star is might hard work yes i suppose it is miss Dunne. But the Climax comes when they gather a the meeting place and compar loot a prize going to the Bigge. Haul. There might be some Dii faculty keeping All the Orange cats from fighting and returning the property is definitely a big Job by most scavenger Hunters consider the game is Worth the Effort. Moke schooling dear mrs. Thompson i had to quit school a Little Ove a year ago when i had almost finished Grade 9. I have just turned 16 and now my Mother wants to Send me Back to school. If i i pack i la have to go in Grade 9 Al Over again. This i Don t want t do As almost All the girls i know n Grade 7 would be in my class Hus making me feel dumb. Also ook much older than my age As am too Stout. Do you think should go Back Louise. If your standing in Grade 9 be fore was Good i am sure the teachers would allow you to go into Grade 10. Or if you were jus a Little behind could you do some coaching this summer and catch up enough to remain with your former classmates i think you would enjoy school More if you did this but it would not be As bad As you think even if you repeat the Grade. Living for old women is discussed in overseas by the woman s editor. Most of us would i suppose pre Fer to have our own Homes and for Many where this is possible there exists no the writer said. But there Are others who have no Home and cannot afford to live in a hotel who find it difficult to pay for a single room with or without help for cooking and cleaning. What Are they to do where Are they to go relations As a Rule do not want them. elderly women have developed in All probabilities inhibitions of various kinds. They like and dislike things violently they want special kinds of food they Are not too easy to Deal with owing to the strength of their individual tastes. And until they have trained themselves not to fuss Over non essentials it is probably better for them to live alone. But i am convinced there Are a growing number of women sensible ready to give and take who would infinitely prefer to live a Community life than to live by themselves partly because they know it is cheaper to share with one another and also because they prefer com Pany to Solitude. What is needed in All sorts of places both in towns and in the country Are houses where women could have an unfurnished room of their own which they could trans form into a Home with their own treasures around them with the Opportunity of cooking their own meals if they wished or where they could have their meals in a common dining room with a lounge where they could read the papers and meet each other.
