Either the person killed or injured or the person who killed or injured was careless. Rarely Are the circumstances which claim life or inflict injury and suffering entirely uncontrollable. Accident statistics compiled Over Many years substantiate these statements beyond any question of doubt. And the Price that must be paid for the annual toll of death and injury attributable to carelessness is tremendous. First of All the person killed or injured pays whether they or someone else was careless. Then their families their relatives and their friends also must pay sometimes in dollars and cents but More often in grief and sorrow. Finally every Accident is directly or indirectly an expense to the Community and consequently every individual must pay the Price of carelessness. Ordinarily the average per son when his mind turns to accidents thinks of Highway and City traffic accidents. There Are however accidents in every Field of human activity. As a matter of cold statistics More persons every year Are killed in their than Are killed in motor vehicle accidents. Similarly the number of persons injured in their Homes exceeds the toll of any other Type of mishap. In addition the average person thinks of accidents impersonally usually he does not know the persons he hears or reads about who has been killed or injured. But think Back How Many times was escape from death or injury Only a matter of inches or seconds and How often was your own or someone else s carelessness responsible for what you hate to think might have happened next time you might not be so Lucky and then accidents will no longer be an impersonal matter. Whether you Are in the Shel Ter of your own Home driving on a country Highway or a City Street at work or at play there Are always Accident hazards. Look about you and you will notice them and consider them thoughtfully and you will realize How quickly tragedy might strike if you or someone else should be careless or neglectful. And remember avoiding and preventing accidents is a. Per Sonal matter for every individual.
