Press thursday july 21, 1938 Golf Tournai monster entry total of 279 competes for provincial trophy Charlie Florence of the Heather club had the right ice wednesday at Pine Ridge and today is the Champion golfer among Manitoba curlers. He topped a Field of 279, an All time record in the Manitoba Curling association s annual Golf tournament at the Hill by carding a net 64 and a Gross 94. The annual curlers event had representation and from All appearances one would have thought Headquarters had been moved out to Pine Ridge. They were there from numerous Manitoba centres also from Kenora ont., and judging from the general enthusiasm the curlers Golf tournament is bound to grow into one of Canada s largest. Tommy Farquhar of Elmwood pulled up in second position with a net 60. His Gross was 88. Bobby Stevenson of the fort Garry club headed Alt in Gross scoring with his Fine 83, that included an Eagle two on the sixth Hole. Bob dropped his approach shot a no. 7 Iron Effort and Harold Hultman. Also of the fort Garry club was an interesting onlooker Harold played in the foursome just ahead of Stevenson.
