Legion branches discuss rally the Winnipeg Branch ., Ca Nadian legion b.e.s.l., met wednesday. The meeting was held in girl s Mother disapproves boy who has Rowdy friends by mrs. Elizabeth Thompson others Are undoubtedly justified in objecting to their daughters being Friendly with Young hoodlums but there is no cause for alarm when a boy is a Little noisy or has friends who Are not out of the top drawer. The Mother described in this letter would appear to be rather Hasty in her judgment a girl writes dear mrs. Thompson i in i. Girl of 18 and am in love with a boy who is 20. I have known him All life As he lives across the Street and i am Friendly with his sister. We became very Friendly last Winter when i was lonesome after Only brother went away to College. He started taking out and was just like another brother to . He was always Ideal when i was in Early teens. However he goes around with some boys and girls whom i do not like or Admire. They Are not really what one would Call bad but they Are not Nice boys and girls and Moth has always told that people Are judged by the company they keep i believe she is right but now she says i should not go around or be seen with this boy. I have refused several invitations from him and he seems to be getting rather Distant lately. I expected that but what could i do i really Don t think i should Stop joint around with him. Last win Ter i took him to our Church club several times and he was always a perfect gentleman. He also went to several parties with and friends liked him very . His sister told though that his Mother was stiff for fear be would act As he does with this other gang. I think he would join he club if i asked him and would also go to night school As i intend o do. Do you think this would e All right or should i Stop be Ore it is too late to mend reputation Mother would rather i did t go with boys at All but says if i not to be seen with him. However i have gone around a i thu with a boy who is always at the head of everything going on but i found that other people thought him stuck up and Bossy and i did t like that. My brother thought a lot of this boy that i care for but Mother thinks Only of the company he keeps. What should i do troubled. Boys Are usually pretty Good judges of other boys and if your brother liked this lad it i definitely a Point in his favor also it is not completely damning that he associates with a crowd your Mother does t approve. All intelligent people have a natural curiosity about human nature and like to meet different types. A certain amount of experimenting is very valuable and boys who never move out of the Circle into which they Are born Are Apt to be narrow minded even Dull the fact that your Friend can get along with such opposite kinds o people is Likely to be a. Asset both in business and social life.-. However it won t be Long now until his character and the influence of his friends in the next year or two will be important. If All the Good people like you and your Mother take the stand that he is on the downward path refusing to have anything to do with him he won t have any alternative except to throw in his lot with the Rowdy gang. However if you treat him kindly and get him to share your interests you May Rescue him for higher things. At such a critical time in the to career you As a Church member have no right to refuse whatever Benefit your Friend ship Many Confer. Not Many people Are foolish enough to consider a boy of .20 an abandoned character and anyhow if you conduct yourself properly when you Are with him nobody is going to think less of you.
