Madeline Day just because you be been shop eng All afternoon or playing Bridge or making Calls is no Rea son dinner to be late Here is a meal that you can come into the House and have on the table in hour even less if you have Sweet potatoes cooked ahead of you really would t need a salad with this the pineapple takes its place. But it would t be much extra work to slice a few tomatoes and cucumbers and serve them with Lyonnaise or French dressing and there s nothing much nicer or less expensive at this time of year. One hour dinner baked Bacon with Sweet potatoes pineapple slices buttered cauliflower hot Rolls Cra Bapple Jelly Apple Crisp Tea and if happen to have a cake already made or cookies in the House you could serve sliced Mach is or even some of the late overbearing strawberries instead of the pudding. The berries Are Nice for this time of year and they won t much longer. Bacon with Sweet potatoes medium sized Sweet potatoes 12 slices Bacon 6 slices pineapple 6 Tablespoons Brown sugar 1 Teaspoon cinnamon method scrub the Sweet potatoes and Cook in boiling salted until they Are just tender. Drain Well and Peel. Cut in halves Lariot wisc and wrap each piece in a acc of Bacon fastening the Bacon with a toothpick. Lav the pineapple slices in a shallow baking dish and Sprinkle each slice with Brown sugar and cinnamon mixed. Set two of the Iota to halves on each slice and bake a a m Oder ate. 350 Deg. Oven for about 30 minutes. For the pudding you la need rather tart apples and since the cues we get right now Aren t very much that Way i d suggest a Little Lemon juice sprinkled Over them apples and bake in a moderate 350 Deg. F., oven for about 30 minutes until the apples Are tender and the crust is Brown and crispy. We allowed half a cup of Brown sugar to sweeten the but you can use White if you d like it better and More or less depend ing on the Sweet tooth of the fam ily. Some apples too need More sugar than do others to make them really palatable. Another dinner you could get ready in an hour or less Means Only that you la have the potatoes peeled and the cookies baked ahead of time. Actually you won t need an hour to have it ready to eat. Another easy dinner planked hamburger Fried onions creamed potatoes cabbage and Carrot salad fresh stewed plums cookies Tea it s not that there is anything unusual about this meal but some times it s a help to have some one suggest the combination of meat vegetables and dessert that Don t take Long to prepare. Flanked hamburger 1% ibs. Ground beef Salt Pepper 1 cup Fine bread crumbs butter method i like a Steak like this better when there in t an egg used. It seems to be tenderer and not so dry. Moisten the crumbs with water and add to the meat with the Salt and Pepper. Mix Well then form into a Flat cake about Inch thick. Place in a shallow pan Dot with butter and place under the broiler for 15 to 30 minutes de pending on How Well done you like your beef. You can turn it if you like but it really in t necessary and it will stay Juicy and moist. Serve with plenty of Fried onions and creamed potatoes. And i make them by heating diced cold cooked potatoes in a Rich White sauce.
