These special recipes Are usually collected Over a Long period o time and it is Only on very Rar occasions that we come upon an other that we feel is really worthy of being added to this precious col Lection. I have two recipes for you today that come from my own extra Spe Cial file. One of these i have had for several years and the other jus came into Rny Possession last fall but already it has taken its in my list of favourites. The first is a recipe for an Orangi cake. Now i have seen literally dozens of cakes with. This Nam but As far As i m concerned this i the Best recipe i have seen for 1 yet Orange cake. 1-3 cup butter 1 cup sugar 1 egg 2 cups flour 1 Teaspoon soda i Teaspoon baking powder 1 cup sour Cream cup chopped raisins cup chopped dates. A cup chopped nuts if de sired grated Rind 1 Orange. Method Cream soft butter thoroughly. And gradually Cream in the sugar. Beat the egg slightly an add to the creamed mixture beating Well. Of for about 5 minutes when done remove from the oven and cover with the Fol lowing Topping. Topping squeeze the juice from 1 Orangi and pour into a cup or Glass. Lower a Tablespoon of granulated sugar into this until All the sugar i moistened with the Orange juice an pour this Over the hot cake. Continue this procedure until the enter top of the cake is covered with the sugar Orange mixture. When the cake is cold this will form a de Licious sugary crust on top. I like he Topping Best put on this Way however if you wish you can adv cup sugar to the juice of the Orange and pour this Over the cake All in one operation. The next is a recipe for a cake that is a favorite where Ever it goes it is especially popular however with hostesses who Are forever on the watch for delicacies that an just a Little different with which she can tantalize her guests. The recipe i am giving you for i was a prize Winner in one of the household hints contests last fall i be made it a dozen times and i always turns out the same so tha if the method of mixing it seem unusual to you you can take my word for it that it works. Here the recipe for it. Rum and Date cake 1 in. Dates 1 cup walnuts 1 Teaspoon soda 1 cup boiling water cup butter 1 cup Brown sugar 2 eggs 1 cup flour Teaspoon Salt 1 Teaspoon Vanilla method chop the dates and nuts add the baking soda to the Boilini water and pour this Over the Date and nuts and let this stand while you Are preparing the following mixture. Cream the butter Well and gradually Cream in the sugar. Beat the eggs thoroughly and add to the but Ter sugar mixture. Now pour the Date mixture into this and mix Wel sift the flour measure and is again with the Salt and stir Thi into the above adding the Vanilla a the last. Pour the Batter into a grease loaf cake pan and bake in a Model ate oven 350 Deg. Of for 1 hour. Remove the cake from the Ove and pour Over the top of it 1 Tea spoon rum Flavouring dissolved in Tablespoons water. Allow the Cak to Cool and ice with rum Butte icing. Rum butter icing cup butter 1% cups icing sugar Jug i Teaspoon rum Flavouring method Cream soft butter Wel and gradually Cream in the Icin sugar. Add the Flavouring and Mil Well and it is ready to spread on the cake. Washable floors Hardwood floors Are very impractical in either the Kitchen or Bath room and should be avoided if pos sible. These floors must have covering that withstand Wate and be Able to endure a Good scrub Bing. Only a durable flooring such As linoleum rubber Cork or fibr can stand the Gaff. If i did i could t go to work because i Don t feel Well after an operation. Is there any Law in Saskatchewan forcing a father to buy necessary clothing for children if so what can i do till what age do parents support us downhearted. Are obliged by Law of to provide Bare necessities for children until they Are 16, but could turn them out on their sixteenth birthday.
