Several qualities were essential in teaching technical subjects according to the technical group. Among these which the group believed should be taken into account in the proposed revision were 1he importance of recognizing character traits attitudes of the individual interests fundamental experience and skills. Officers elected for 1940 were w. Booth Norwood president brother Bruns Provencher collegiate vice president e. F. Simms West Kildonan collegiate Secre tary and miss m. Cooper West Kildonan collegiate treasurer. Group officers elected were f. Tinkler Norwood chairman and c. S. Quelch Secretary history group miss d. G. Bussell Rupert s land chairman and j. Goodwin St. James Secretary French group John Boyd St. James chairman and b. A. Tingley Transcona Secretary mathematics group s. Bur land St. Vital chairman and i. Crook. St. Vital Secretary English Glen Clark St. James chairman and w. Yarwood St. Vital Secretary science group miss a. Grant River Bend chairman latin group l. Harvey chairman and m. John son Secretary technical group and j. Duncan chairman physical training group. Objective of the conference was to give All suburban collegiate teach ers an Opportunity to discuss prob lems of Mutual interest. Guest speakers included Aid. Margaret Mcwilliams. Who gave a Short address at luncheon in the Hudson s Bay dining room prof. R. C. Mac Farlane who addressed the history group and r. J. Johns speaking to the technical group. Mrs. M. A. Avery Dies in East Eastern Canada and Perth county lost one of. Their oldest pioneers Friday when mrs. Mary Ann Avery died at her Home in Mitchell ont following a month s illness at the age of 106. Frank Avery suite 6 Colony apartments Winnipeg is a son. Born at Devonshire near ply Mouth England mrs. Avery made the eight or nine week crossing to Canada at the age of 21. A year later she married Kichard Avery also a native of Devonshire and settled at St. Thomas ont. That was in 1868, after which mrs.
