With humor pathos Joy and sorrow but always bravery sunday afternoon in a military Camp such As this is an experience which the civilian does not soon forget and in the words of a Camp padre who saw service in the last War it s a Large slice of life for one Day. As each of these scenes of conflicting emotion unfolds when troops whom May be called away at any time spend a few hour with loved ones there is a stirring Call to arms to share with the soldiers in the service of our coun try. Seated at a table in the salvation hut sunday afternoon a an elderly couple the Man. Whose hands were toil worn and whose hair was White was talking to a trooper of about 20 years of age while the Little old lady whose face was Gentie and careworn followed every movement of the Soldier. Then the couple stood up and As they bade the Soldier Farewell the old Man was heard to say we Are not As Young As we used to be grandson perhaps you will be called away soon and we will not be Able to see you again but we know you will do your duty As your father did and return to a car pulled up before the hut and the couple waved to their boy unti they were out of sight. There was the Soldier who welcomed a girl Friend shortly after noon and found himself in a predicament As another car stopped in front of his regimental mess Marque and another girl Friend stepped of to Greet him. He solved the prob Lem by calling a Soldier Friend tossed a Coin and paired off with the first girl Friend. Troops had a Jolly time in the . Hut which officially opened sunday. They jammed the As Sembly for Uvo concerts during the Day read or wrote in the rooms equipped with tables chairs Anc comfortable lounges or talked with visitors. Again placed on record the solemn Assurance which i have frequently Given to Parlia ment that no measure for the conscription of men for overseas ser vice will be introduced by the pres ent administration has once again been placed upon the record of parliament. The Powers which have been to the government will not All be exercised immediately. They will be employed As they Are required to ensure the safety of the Homes and lives of our people in every City town and Village in Canada and the defence of Canada against aggression and to maintain free Dom.
