Independent evaluators should be appointed when there is evidence that property owners Are ganging up to demand High prices for land being bought by the government a House of commons sub committee said in its report tabled in the House today. The sub group of the House War expenditures committee was asked to obtain the views of evaluators on Purchase of Airport land at Gimli Man., after the question was raised by the Winnipeg Tribune. The request to the sub committee headed by Hughes Cleaver lib., went from acting trans port minister Michaud last fall. The committee report said Hugh Phillipps solicitor for the Tribune bad indicated that in the opinion of his principals a Public inquiry should be held to determine the value of the land acquired by the government at Gimli. The sub committee held that its duty was not to supplant the responsibility of either the Public accounts committee or the civil courts in making a Public inquiry and it did not express any opinion As to the need for further inquiry on the Gimli purchases.
