We were Only Ood friends at first. He used to take my Little girl and me to dinner and shows and sometimes would come to our Home or Tea on sunday afternoon or an occasional dinner in the evening. We were both lonesome and enjoyed one another s company. Was a perfect gentleman and h6j respectable one too. About six months after we had met he declared his love for me but almost broke my heart by telling me he was already married. He had made a very unhappy marriage even though he had a Little daughter whom he adored and kept seeing every few weeks. He had lived with his Wile for Only three months and was refused a divorce on account of religious obligations on his part. He pays a monthly allowance to his life. We decided not to see one an of her. And i begged him to try and re establish a Home for the Sake of his daughter. But instead he left town and went to another City to work he wrote me nearly every month saying How lonesome he was for our companionship but i did t answer. He came Back after nine months and telephoned to ask u we had a very Nap the result was i quit my Job discharged my help and he and i started living together. He could come Over. Happy evening and then arid i we moved to another town took his name. I two years later we had a child of our own and we Are All very Happy Only hoping that some Day we can truly and respectably be married. His former wife does t live a very respectable life though i should t and she indulges in drinks and smoking in front of her daughter. Could we get the woman s secret is constant worry girl if we went to the child Wel fare do you think there would be any happiness for us if we parted and tried to build i respectable life for our children i have suggested taking them and going to work but i know we d still see each other because hell always have the right to see his child. I have also urged him to go Back to his former wife and try to Patch things up for the Sake of his Little girl but he refuses and says if he can t live with me he does t want to live with anyone. Pc is doing War work now and making a Good salary. Is there any real happiness for us or should we part now before the children got any older my oldest girl thinks he is her real father. Will she hate me later on in life if she Ever finds out the truth or do you suppose she d understand she is a very Sweet child. Unhappy Happy. Think there will always be gnawing worry in your1 Situa Tion but it would seem the lesser of two evils to keep on with your present set up. Doing this will protect two children and nothing can undo the wrong already done the Man s wife and child. He had no right to Wash his hands three months which forbids divorce also emphasizes duty to marriage vows. It was unfair to judge his wife by such a Short period together particularly when she was pregnant and if slip is not living respectable today. He is guilty to a Large extent. It is also his responsibility if his child does t turn out Well. If his wife is not a fit person to have charge of the child she could be taken away but whether or not he would be Given custody under the circumstances. I Don t know. However he should certainly ask the child welfare to investigate. It would be a Good idea to discuss the whole thing with the family j Bureau. You Are Young enough to make a break if it seemed advisable however your first duty is to the children and if they Are Happy and have a Normal Home life there would need to be weighty reasons of marriage after trial. Any religion for disturbing them. If their Hood is Happy and secure they will never blame you even if they know j the facts later on.
