It be Gan spontaneously enough with a queer collection of displaced per sons. The collection was sorted out. In six Days. 1.600 of these people were left in the charge of one officer. When i saw this Camp it was Bare three weeks old and running smoothly. It is a sub Camp and consequently smaller than some but nevertheless received Many hundreds per Day it now run in conjunction with Large main Camp nearby and two other sub Camps by six officers. It is presently to become one for russians Only and it will be made More habitable. It has been found that West bound people can be shipped to their countries almost within a Day or two of arrival. Nearly a thou and were sent by air the British area. Superb that All those seen physically. Those working for farm this Means that All those seen were russians poles and italians and More than 50 per cent of these russians. The germans obviously placed Eastern Peoples in the West and vice versa and it is expected that Only a Small percentage of the westerners Are yet uncovered. These East bound people must remain until such time As transport conditions permit them to move. It is estimated that of seven or eight million displaced persons in the whole of Germany there Are two and a half million in the organization under indescribable Circum stances organization has been Superb. Leaders of each National Ity have been chosen to exact Good conduct and order. There is a communal Kitchen run by the Best Cook amongst All. But they All do a bit o f scrounging on their own. Also each group has discovered z tailor in their midst. Some British soldiers found a piano which they donated. I am told that a considerable number of All nationalities wish to remain where they Are. Some have married germans others Are simply accustomed to the Way of life. All in the Camp speak a sort of German patois. The military government now pays them five Marks a Day. Three limes a week a Large single Sheet of news printed in five columns each in a different Lan Guage is produced by the depart ment of psychological warfare and is Hung up. Woodward said to have died in St. Louis March 13. 1912. Police were told that the Daugh Ter refused to allow her Mother to be buried in the family burial plot at Waterbury vt., causing a family quarrel. Sent to a crypt a neighbor said mrs. Woodward told her she had sent the body to Egypt to be preserved by a mum Minier whom the daughter met on one of her trips abroad.
