Service stand Ards and with regimental insignia As a background one of the gayest and most Brilliant affairs of Many years was held thurs Day at the Royal Alexandra hotel when the United services officers held their first Post War Ball. The entire ballroom floor was set aside for the affair with the honorary officers and their ladies receiving Over five Hundred guests in the drawing room. In the receiving line were Lieut Gen eral the Hon. P. J. Montague air vice marshal Kenneth m. Guthrie and mrs. Guthrie. Brigadier r. O. G. Morton and mrs. Morton. Com Mander Hector a. Craig . Reserve and mrs. Craig. The Ball was formally opened As the lieutenant governor and mrs. Mcwilliams with the aide de Camp Lieut. Col. T. L. Slater came slowly Down the staircase in o the Crystal ballroom and the National Anthem was played. Outstanding in the evening was the presentation to the lieutenant governor and mrs. Mcwilliams of seven debutantes at the conclusion of the first dance. The presentation was made in the Cen tre of the ballroom and each of the debutantes announced by Lieut. Col. Slater and did her crusty to the King s representative in Manitoba. As they passed on Down the room they were joined by their escorts and led the reopen ing of the dancing. They were a Lovely picture As they made their bows wearing Graceful gowns of White and carrying colonial bouquets of roses and other pastel toned blossoms. Miss Ann Guthrie Only daughter of air vice marshal and mrs. Guth Rie wore a Model of silk Bro Cade with Slimy fitted Ooi lice showing a circular neckline accented by Scal loping of the material the Cap sleeves were bordered with the Scal loping. The full skirt was floor length and she wore pearls miss Joy Bedson daughter of Lieut. Col. And mrs. K. C. Bedson chose White Satin veiled with tulle the bodice showing a deep v de Collet age accented with Butterfly bows of tulle at the shoulders. The Basque Girdle was of Satin and the full skirt of the tulle. Misses Margaret and Norma Jamieson daughters of or. And mrs. Norman Jamieson wore gowns fashioned alike with slim bodices and dropped waistlines Topping very full skirts. The Bateau necklines were accented by soft folds of the material and sheer net yokes. Miss Margaret wore White Jersey and miss Norma silk pique. Miss Barbara Hall daughter of prof and mrs. N. Hall wore sheer Coin dotted in Gold with shirred bodice showing a deep de Collet age and ruffles Over the shoulders. A narrow ruffle at the hip line topped the full skirt. Miss Marion Swan daughter of or. And mrs. Alexander Swan chose White taffeta for her gown with a victorian neckline out lined by double ruffles of the silk and a. Full skirt spreading from the slim Girdle. Miss Shirley Murphy daughter of or. And mrs. C. C. Murphy wore a French gown of off White crepe with High round neckline Cap sleeves and slightly flared skirt. A wide Belt studded with varying shades of Gold rhinestones marked the. Waistline. Supper was served in the main dining room with the head table set at one Side of the room. The Craf band was in attendance and during the supper hour the regimental Roll Call was Given and responded to by men who served in the second great but also by Many who served in two great wars. Dancing was continued until Midnight when the last Waltz closed with the playing of god save the King. It was an affair when uniforms predominated with a few Scarlet mess jackets among the Many ser vice uniforms. Mrs. Mcwilliams chose Black velvet with softly draped bodice and flared skirt spreading into a circular train. A Wing drapery from the shoulders was lined with White. Mrs. Guthrie wore White Satin with draped bodice showing a pointed Decolle Tage the Points were repeated in the skirt which flared with soft draperies from the hip line. A Fluffy Pink Blossom provided a contrast in color on one shoulder. Mrs. Chose an aquamarine crepe with deep v Decolle Tage and Short sleeves. The skirt flared from jewelled Girdle. She wore Gardenias. Mrs. Craig wore Black velvet with off the shoulder Decolle Tage and soft crushed Girdle lopping the slightly flared skirt. She wore Gardenias in her hair. Or. And mrs. A. E.
