Thompson advises weft too perfect by Elizabeth Thompson it is a Fine thing for girls who marry to have a sense of responsibility and work hard at their jobs but there is such a thing As overdoing the wifely Virtues. A Young Man dear mrs. Thompson will you please write some Hing about girls who think that when they get married they own a Man body and soul i got pack rom overseas about a year ago and last summer married a girl 0 whom i had been engaged for free years. All the time i was away she was wonderful about writing and sending parcels and her letters were always cheerful and interesting. We had gone to Gether six months before we be came engaged and seemed very congenial. While i was away i used to dream about having my own Home with her to enjoy it with me. We Are fortunate in having our own place1, through the death of a rela Ive. And have it fixed up very nicely. But my wife takes herself so seriously that she in t any fun any More. She keeps the House shining and then looks Hurt if i put my feet up on a chair or spill ashes on the Rug. She fusses Over meals and Oes around sighing All night if Don t rave enough. If i cough once she is after me with a bottle of Medicine. When i go to work in the morning she hovers Over me. To see that i my rubbers and re minds me of different errands she wants me to do also of the ashes which have to be taken out when 1 come Home Etc. And if i Don 1 come straight Home but spend Hall an hour in some innocent amuse ment inc is pacing the floor when i arrive talking about How Wor mrs. Thompson she is slowly smothering me. Will you please Tell girls that men who were Over seas for years had to obey orders and follow strict rules want a Little bit of Freedom now. They enjoy fussing to a certain extent but Don t want to be any woman s slave any More than they want her to be a slave i wish my wife would go out More with other girls and have something to think about be sides me. She had a Job that occupied her time while i was away but now she makes me her Job and i Don t like it. Veteran some girls enjoy dramatizing themselves. Perhaps your wife while you were away cast her self As the perfect cheerful uncomplaining inspiring and so on now she is playing the part of she considers the perfect not realizing that perfection is usually pretty trying. Better have a Frank talk on the subject of being herself and cultivating outside interests. Suggest that each of you spend one night a week apart and that she go but More in the afternoons. There Are plenty of women s clubs she could join. But make a Point of doing something together at least once a week either going out or having people in. Your wife would prob ably leave you alone More if she had a baby but unless she achieves a broader Outlook she will be As possessive a Mother As she is a ried she was for fear i had been wife and that would be info Stu run Over.
