This decision was made at a meeting of the Board of the orchestra held in the Board room of the rain Exchange tuesday Nair it. Or. Kaufmann is expected to arrive in Winnipeg about sept. 1 to meet the Board. A composer of operas and symphonies which have been performed in Europe he has conducted extensively in England and India and is recommended by sir Adrian Boult director of the music for the British Broad casting corporation sir Ernest Macmillan conductor of the Tor onto symphony orchestra and Ross Pratt former Winnipeg pianist. Kaufmann was director of the All India radio from 3933 until recently when he went to England to become conductor of the bbl theatre orchestra and later came to Canada to join the Halifax conservatory of music. He is an accomplished pianist violinist and Viola player in addition to being a conductor. The Board also discussed the position of manager for the orchestra.
