Six Manitoban killed. 12 injured storm hits Northwest Airliner Winona minn., aug. 30 a persons including a Canadian couple died in the crash sunday of a storm raked North West airlines plane atop a wooded Mississippi River Bluff. The canadians were c. C. Plum Jer and his wife of flin flon Man. The mangled bodies of 26 persons trapped in the wrecked fuselage were being brought out monday by a human Chain which wound Way Down the Steep and Rocky of a 150-foot Ravine into which its Side of a 150-foot Ravine into which the plane toppled. The bodies of 10 others were car ried out monday night e. W. Head who was returning to Minneapolis from Toronto missed the plane at Chicago although he was listed As a passenger. The crash occurred Between win Ona and Fountain City wis., on the Wisconsin Side of the River during the height of a severe electrical and rain storm. The plane was one of the air line s newer Martin 2-0-2 ships and was bound for Minneapolis from Chicago with 33 passengers Antl three Crew members. It left Chicago at 3.50 cd. A crash witness told the Coroner he saw the plane fall into the Ravine after lightning Howard Rackow a Farmer living on Perry Island in the Mississippi River told the Coroner there a a Flash of lightning. It struck the plane a part of a Wing fell of and the ship started reporters at the scene said the wreckage was scattered Over wide area. Parts of the wreckage were found in a Mississippi River swamp and other parts were found on a nearby Hillside. Mrs. Charles Guenther a farm woman said she and her husband witnessed the crash. We were coming Home from mrs. Guenther said when we saw the plane rolling like a barrel. Some pieces of the plane fell off. It was raining hard. On butlers Ridge shattered a wind.
