Norm Anderson official track veterinary at Polo Park thursday took time out to perform a fast emergency inoculation Job on 11 head of imported Welsh cobs which were in route to Couver. The shipment including seven mares two foals and two Stal Lions Are consigned to Frank Ross of Vancouver. Or. Anderson was pressed into Short notice service because Bri Tish Columbia has a ruling that horses entering the province mus be inoculated against encephalomyelitis before entering the prov Ince. He met the horses As they passed through Here yesterday morn ing and did the Job during the 20 minutes the train stopped. Or. Anderson said that so far As he can recall the horses Are the first shipment of Welsh cobs to come to this country direct from Wales in Many years and should turn out to be valuable additions to the Breeding Stock of that Type of horse. He reported that one of the stallions in the shipment was one of the Best looking Cleveland Bays to come into the West. The Cleveland Bays were a quite popular Breed of horse a few years Back but of late have been getting fairly scarce in the West. Anderson said the serum for the required treatment is hard to get and is not in plentiful Supply in most places in Canada. There none in Montreal when the horses were unloaded off the Boa from Liverpool sunday and a special shipment brought in by air from new York was too late. Anderson happened to have 11 doses of the drug left Over from an order for some horses in the Spring if the Job had t been done Here the horses would have been held in Bond by the . Government which is the Only one requiring inoculation against the disease which is uncommon nowadays. F. Al Smith clerk of the course reported that As of thursday morning there were Between 390-400 horses registered at Polo Park this is a fair drop from the Spring meeting when there were in the neighbourhood of 476 Here. It is possible will top 400 this meet if the Odd few that Are still logical entries for forthcoming stakes races decide to come. Andy Adams has had a bit of Tough Luck with his stable the late part of this summer. Of four in his stable there Are Only two physically fit to run and of the remaining two one of them is the two year old Hester which broke from the Gate for the first time yester Day morning. The running horse in the stable at present is the four year old cowslip. Conevia very Handy kind for any race for claiming horses going Over a distance of ground drove a Rusty Nail itt inches into her foot on the track at Regina. Who said it a seven year old Mare picked a Nail us in the stable area at Edmonton. Both will be out of commission for awhile at least. Lou Marks the Veteran from Kentucky brought two horses up in the latter part of the summer from the states. Marks has raced in Winnipeg for Many years with Large strings of horses. This year he brought the three year old Tyro and the allowance class horse Steven Street. Tyro was blistered and is presently turned out. At Casey Moural s farm outside St. Boniface till he heals enough to permit serious training. Steven Street has done nothing on the Prairies As yet this year. Coordinator owned by d. E. Ormiston of Winnipeg was a track scratch from the sixth race yesterday. The nine year old gelding spent practically All of the Spring meeting Here on the veterinary s list which makes the horse ineligible to run until passed by the veterinary and pronounced physically fit and sound to run. He has opened the fall meeting nearly two months later still of the vet s list and ineligible to run. Acceptance of his entry for thursday was evidently an error. Or. Anderson track vet. Had not passed the horse As fit and ordered him scratched. It la be one year on sept. S since the horse last raced and won by a head from Genie s boy in s800 claiming affair Here. By the Way apologies to Jack Hipol the Veteran horseman and sex railroader. It was a Sweet win for the Murray Caithness aggregation for it almost assured the scottish they la be the team to meet fort Rouge legion in the play offs. But it took the scots a Long time before they finally came from behind to get the Best of the argument against their old rivals. Be fore they knew they were in the game Frank Creran smacked the Ball into the net and the Weston j. Joe y Over Krc at 9 . Daily for first scratches and selections presented by National motors limited Winnipeg s Mercury Lincoln and meteor dealer held grimly to that one goal Lead till nearly mid Way in the second half. Then came a hot argument following a skirmish in the Scot Tish goal Mouth Bill Nicol scrambled the Ball into the net. Referee Gillespie gave Weston their goal All right but after consulting Linesman Cliff Dickens he changed his decision. The Ball was handled by a Weston said Cliff. It was a Tough break for the Weston boys and it did t help them any when Bill Glencross Fol lowing Harry Beckwith s Corner eased the Ball into the net with a header. Weston fought Back to tie up the score and the scottish got off Lucky when tank Summerfield got away in the Clear Only to drive the Ball at Roy Burkett. When Bill Glencross smacked Home the third goal for the Scot ties Weston were a beaten team. Beckwith passed up a Fine Chance to score when he banged the Ball right at Harrup while Johnny get to sent the Ball past the Post by inches with Harrup drawn out of position. Donald Mcangus hit the crossbar from a free kick. The Highlander was one of the stars of a bitterly fought game. Scottish had a Good Edge in the first half but they finished weakly.
