Monday september 12. 1949 Page 19 asks and stampedes Triumph Edmonton cracks bombers line Edmonton by Bob Moir special Winnipeg Blue bombers line crumbled before an onrushing Edmonton eskimos Back Field Here saturday night at Clarke stadium in front of almost Frozen ians As the asks gained their first Western inter provincial foot Ball Union Victory an impressive 14-11 decision. It was the second straight decisive loss for the bombers whose Lone win of the year came against Saskatchewan rough riders in the opening game of the season. Aside from two touchdown passes bombers did nothing. They picked up 39 Yards along the ground 32 in the first half for one first Down. Eskimos smashed and passed their Way for a total of 332 Yards and 17 first Downs completely dominating play in three outstanding downfield marches. Edmonton opened the scoring when Bob Sandberg was Rouge on Chuck Fenenbock s kick Early in the first Quarter. On the nex play Sandberg s Quick kick was blocked rolled Over the goal line and asks Gene Kiniski fell on it for five Points. A Johnnie Gardner to Bill claw son pass put bombers Back in the game but Wally Edwards con Vert attempt to deadlock the game was blocked. Near the end of the Quarter Fenenbock fumbled and Deleeu recovered. Sandberg smashed through for one of Winnipeg s three first Downs the others came on the touchdown passes.
