Flight jackets door opening sensation values to air raid at Swaton British ships targets in nationalist attack Hong Kong nov. 16 the South morning China Post said Loday chinese nationalist planes raided a Dock area where two British ships were unloading at communist held Swaton sunday ten persons were reported killed and 20 badly injured. The newspaper said nationalist bomber fighter apparently tried to hit the Bri Tish ships the Singh Ingr and the clo Verlock for defying the nationalist blockade of chinese communist ports. Instead the Post said the Homber hit a Pontoon wharf with one of three bombs. The other two bombs fell in the water. Then the account continued the fighter flew Low Over the customs wharf and fired several machine gun bursts injuring Many people on Junks and one Perton on the clo Verlock. No one on the singing was hit the paper said. Earlier two British owned ships the Woosang and the Tainan which have been up by a chinese nationalist warship for More than a week at the Mouth of the Yangtze were released today and began steaming to Hong Kong. The two ships alone with the United states vessel flying and a norwegian ship were held up by the nationalists As part of their blockade of communist held chinese ports. The owners of the flying clout notified . State Secretary Dean Acheson that their vessel had been fired on although without casual ties. Phone 3 397 Portage lust East of Hydro phone 929331 a 65-year-old City employee William Murzak will stand trial charged with the murder his wife Eva in their Rooming House at 307 Jarvis Avenue. Following preliminary hearing of the Case tuesday in City police court magistrate m. K. Gar ton ruled there was sufficient evidence to commit Murzak for trial. Mrs. Murzak died in Winnipeg general Hospital nov. 3, 24 hours after she was admitted to that institution with serious head injuries. Following testimony of 21 witnesses and the filing of 23 exhibits magistrate Garton ordered that Murzak be held in the Rupert Avenue jail until this morning at which time he would appear in court and be handed Over to the sheriff s office. Evidence at the preliminary hearing showed mrs. Murzak had died from extensive brain lacerations and a number of Skull Frac Tures resulting in cerebral Hemor rage. Main exhibit main exhibit at the hearing was a broken blood stained Broom handle thought to be the weapon used in the slaying. Attached to one of the splintered ends of the handle was a Grey hair at present being examined in the . Laboratory at Regina sask., detective Robert Scott of the City to police Force told the court. He re ported discovering the broken end i wrapped in a Blue flowered dress and stuffed in a cupboard Box. He Felt there had been a definite attempt made to conceal the instrument. A second detective James Toal reported finding the other part of the Broom lean ing against the Kitchen door of the Jarvis Avenue residence. He also told of finding a Damp Towel with what appeared to be bloodstains on it hanging inside a cupboard door in the downstairs dining Reddish brow a tinted clothing was said to have been worn by the accused when apprehended shortly after mrs. Murzak was taken to Hospital according to testimony of detective James Mckinnon. Sergeant of detectives Alex Price testified that after duly cautioning Murzak three Days after his wife s death he asked Murzak where did you get the blood on the clothes that were taken from you when i picked her up off the was Murzak s reply. At the morning session a lodger in the Murzak Home Nick Mokomel Sala he discovered mrs. Murzak lying on her dining room floor about 9 p.m., nov. 2. I picked her up and. Carried her to her he said. She was bleeding from the nose and there was blood on the floor where she had been lying. I then went to a neighbors to phone for a Yokome testified through an interpreter and on my return i saw Murzak washing something in the sink asked him what he was doing and he told me to get to a mrs. Dora Kanciruk of 315 Jarvis Avenue said she had visited the Murzak Home in the Early evening of nov. 2. As i was going up the walk to the front Entrance i noticed Glass on the said mrs. Kanciruk. Bill Murray was just on his Way out with a. Broom and Dustpan to clean it up. The front pane on the outside door was Shat questioned by Crown prosecutor o. M ;
