But such is not the Case in most modern households. However there Are a few jobs that we May leave for the Spring simply because it is More convenient or even More pleasant to do at this time. Some of these jobs Are arduous and not much can be done about taking shortcuts with them or making them any easier. Nevertheless there Are a few that May be lightened considerably. One Job that might be done at this time and that is usually a bugbear to most housewives is cleaning the oven in stove. Teryl Campbell exchanges vows with James c. Johnston edding vows were exchanged at a candlelight ceremony May 20, at 7 At St. Matthew s anglican Church when lev. J. Burton Thomas officiated at the wedding of Beryl Jean Aughter of or. And mrs. Boy a Campbell and James Courtney Ohnston son of or. And mrs. S. B. Johnston. Now the Normal practice is simply to set aside several hours and a goodly amount of Energy and then get Busy with steel Wool and a scouring powder. If you know , however this business does to have to take nearly As Long nor does it require too much experience of muscle. We re going to Tell you How to do this now. The method we re going to give you is the easiest we have found to Date. Oven cleaning Aid this must be done at a time when you know you will not have to use the oven for at least 24 hours or More. It should be a fairly simple matter to plan ahead for this. Once you have arranged for this the next step is to obtain some household ammonia. Pour some of this into a wide mouthed Holt Renfrew furriers 1837 tobacco can will do. Then set this on a rack in the oven. Close the oven door and plug up the vent that allows steam to escape when the oven is on. It is a Good idea to plug up around the edges of the door As Well either with soft cloths or with soft tis sue in order to prevent the ammonia fumes from escaping. Leave the ammonia in the oven for at least 24 hours and Longe than this if you like up to 4s hours. When the ammonia has been in the oven for the required length of time remove the vessel contain ing it. You will find that the Deposit on the Walls of the oven and the shelves will come off very easily when cleaned with a cloth run oui of warm soapy water. Stub born spots will loosen readily when rubbed with a Little steel Wool. Certainly there is some work involved even with this method by nothing like the amount that i necessary without the ammonia treatment. Cleaning Silver is still another task that is very irksome to Manj housewives. Now a Good Deal o rubbing and scouring can be dispensed with if the Silver is cleaner in the following manner. Cleaning Silver easily an aluminium utensil is needed with this method or else just som piece of aluminium such As a a i or lid placed inside a vessel mad of some other material. The poin that the silverware must com r. Contact with aluminium. If Flat Vare is being cleaned not All o it has to touch the aluminium Long As that which is not in direct Contact with the aluminium i touching some pieces that Are i Contact with it. Measure water into the Alum num utensil or else into another vessel containing some piece o aluminium. For every quart o water used add one level Teaspoon Salt and one level Teaspoon of Bak ing soda. Bring the water to the simmer ing Point and add the silverware to be cleaned. Leave the Silver i this simmering solution until the tarnish Marks disappear then re move and rinse in hot water an dry Well. Silverware will not tarnish a easily if it is carefully wrapped i absorbent paper after being cleaned. This Type of paper protects the silverware against dampness b absorbing moisture. A second wrapping of grease proof or Wax paper helps further to protect against tarnishing. Yellow for boy Green for girl . Girl scouts give to guides for flood Relief Toronto ont.
