Mrs. Thompson tie Legal advises despite wrong name by Elizabeth Thompson t Tsing an incorrect name when getting married does t make v. J the tie less binding. The woman who wrote this letter need t worry but she should make sure records Are Correct she says dear mrs. Thompson Many people have told us that we Are not legally married. You see i got mar ried when i was 18% years old. We Are married Over two years now. My dad died in 1934 and Mother married again so i have a Stepdad. I used my Stepdad s name instead of Niy dad s name. I did t get my name changed. When i went to school i used my dad s name. We have no children and we have a Home of our own. Please if True or not and what i should do 33. Tou Don t say which name you y used when you got married but no matter what it was your marriage is Legal. People Are firmly married provided they can prove if necessary that they were the persons who went through the ceremony. What they were called does t matter you can see that a Law like this is necessary. Other Wise a Man could get married under a false name then skip out and leave his wife saying to bad for not married at and a woman could play an equally dirty trick on a Man. If you never changed your name and your Stepfather did t adopt you then your Legal Narne was your father s. If that is the name you used when you got thing is in the clean but if you used your Stepfather a name go Down to the vital statistics Branch in the legislative building and arrange to have the record corrected. On the marriage certificate you should have your real name and in brackets known As your Legal name now is your the House is in both your names As John and Mary Smith no change is required there.
