The association had taken form in 1912, when the Duke of Connaught governor general of Canada and a Patron of the association donated the cup for country wide Competition. The Connaught cup remained the top soccer prize until 1926, when it was replaced by the football association trophy. Norwood wanderers a team of piano legged footballers made up of a mixture of local Talent and Early Century immigrants from great Britain was the Surprise Winner of the cup in the first year of Competition.
