Application forms for per manent employment with the City of Winnipeg May be re drafted to eliminate All questions which could Lead to possible racial discrimination. This move was approved thursday by civic personnel and legislation committee and will be recommended to Council for adoption. None at present committee acknowledged unanimously that such discrimination does not exist in the civic service at pre sent. It was Felt however that two questions on the application form should be eliminated. These ask coun try of birth nationality either by birth or naturalization. The new forms would come into existence next year when j. Foj. Stuart City personnel officer would include sufficient funds in his depart ment estimates for Cost of printing. Motion to briny about the change was introduced by Aid. David Orlikov who said he satisfied that no discrimination exists in the mat Ter of whether or not a Man is to be employed. But. The fund has been set up and s administered by staff members of newspapers and radio stations throughout Manitoba. All child Ren living in Manitoba who Are Ingle or double orphans or who Are otherwise dependent with ittle or no source of income or support Are eligible for a scholar ship under this fund. The scholarship provides not Only the Cost of tuition to univer sity Normal schools hospitals collegiate and technical institutes and business colleges but also undertakes where necessary the entire support of the scholarship Winner while he is at school. Final selection of the scholar Boneh education and the welfare Council of greater Winnipeg from applications distributed by and returned to the Council. The first scholarship will be awarded this summer. The fund proposes to raise Money for its objective by Stag ing special events of interest to the Public with All profits going toward the scholarship. The first to event is expected to be announced shortly. No member of the press radio scholarship fund receives any remuneration from the fund officials said. All work by the members is donated. Details of the scholarship and the organization of the fund were worked out in conjunction with the welfare Council of greater Winnipeg.
