Be-1 of the spectacular nature of such floods interest throughout the entire country is aroused and. Relief of every kind pours into the area involved. These kinds of flood disasters while terrible can hardly be com pared with the slow creeping flood disaster that lasts for years but which in the end is the cause of just As much or More human suffering. Such is the flood situation which is now affecting the whole of the Interlake District along the Eastern shores of Lake Manitoba. Thousands of acres of Hay and pasture bordering the Lake have been under water for the past two years. The splendid herds of beef and Dairy cattle which these lands once supported Are gone. The Fine modern Homes of Many of the Lakeshore Farmers Are now surrounded by water which in some cases is lapping at the very doorsteps. The plight of the Farmers far ther Inland has become almost As desperate. Every Slough and in land Lake is full to overflowing. Cultivated land is inundated roads Bridges and culverts Are continually being washed out. The average Interlake Farmer is a mixed Farmer. He depends on the Sale of livestock and livestock products for his livelihood. The Interlake Farmer is Hardy self reliant individual. However the feeling is general that if some form of help is not soon forthcoming it will be impossible to keep going until the wet years Are past. With his Hay and pasture gone and his Grain crops and herds greatly reduced it is impossible to foresee anything but a general exodus in the near future and the return of the Interlake country to the Muskrat and Beaver.
