Must have Edmonton to station Csc Edmonton an individual private television station regularly turn out programs Good enough to be shown on a National to network this is a major consideration facing the Board of broadcast governors in its task of choosing an operator for Edmonton s Sec Ond to station. The applicants Are the Csc and four private companies. The Csc View As expressed Here Friday by corporation presi Dent j. Alphonse Ouimet is that judging from the plans of the other App cants Here private stations would be too bound up in their own local programming to do a proper Job for a National net work. There a standing Csc offer to accept for network use any private station program that comes up to what the Corpora Tion considers National viewing calibre. But or. Ouimet told the big there have been no takers on the English language network since offer was made in 1952. He indicated the Csc foresees no change in this situation National duty the publicly owned Agency says an Edmonton station is essential if the Csc is to fulfil its National service obligation. If the Board accepts this Csc argument it must either recommend that the government License the corporation As the Sec Ond Edmonton station or be assured that a second private Licensee is capable of filling in for the Csc. Apparently in an Effort to re solve this Point the. Board this week asked All four Edmonton applicants whether they would be willing and Able to the proper suitable Security risk for the Csc network.
