Even in seats which had been picked As conservatives weak spots the government candidates waltzed in with sharply reduced but still comfortable pluralities. Total vote for conservative candidates dropped sharply but the voters they lost did not switch to any of the opposition parties. Instead they apparently just stayed Home. In seat after seat in the Rural Ridings the Liberal vote in 1962 was almost exactly the same As it was in 1958.
