Councillor Willis explained that metro s plans were based on those made several years ago by the Winnipeg Parks Board with the zoological society. Basically we Are revising some buildings not making them quite As elaborate but said councillor Willis. Other work to be done in the total plan includes paving of roads building new parking areas improvements to existing buildings relocation of some exhibits and planting of Trees and shrubs. The municipal Board has approved spending of on the Park As part of the plan this year. Metro will have to go to the Board each year for approval of spending for further work. Councillors feel however the municipal Board has Given its approval in principle of the five year plan. Last year Winnipeg Council objected to some work for the zoo and the municipal Board agreed the Board asked for and got z Long Range plan and approved the first stage. Hospital addition planned million to be spent on Victoria a million building program for the Victoria general hos Pital including renovation of the present Structure and the Addi Tion of a new Wing will be under Way in about two months. The addition to the buildings at 424 River ave., increasing bed capacity from 160 to 300, is in accordance with the recommendations of the Manitoba hospitals Survey Board. A. Allyn Rossen chairman of the Board of trustees of the hos Pital says commencement of the building program for the hos Pital will Start immediately with renovation of the roof of the old Section and added that sche Matic plans had been completed or the new Hospital addition. Most of the Cost will be paid by government Grants but the Hospital Board is required to raise 20 per cent of the total. Part of the 20 per cent has already been obtained and an Appeal to the Community will soon be made to obtain the rest. Or. Unless the Hospital was to be expanded to the approved recommendations of the Manitoba hospitals Survey Board the Community would not have available to it a 300 bed institution for the care of the sick and injured he added.
