Well i be got news for him. The percent age of women involved in accidents is Way below that of the male Motorist. This is borne out by the statistics research department of the Dominion automobile association according to manager w. S. Chalmers. While the number of women who have obtained Drivers licences has tripled in the past 15 years the fatal Accident rate for female Drivers remains fairly constant. Yet in the same period the increase in fatal accidents for male Drivers in Canada has gone up 23 per cent. According to or. Chalmers records in 1960 there were 74 Canadian women Drivers killed in accidents in 1962 it showed a slight increase to 82, and this year still has a few months to go. Worthy of mention is the fact that not a single female Driver was killed while driving a car in the province of Newfoundland during the three year period of 1960 to 1962. This must mean that women Are More safety conscious than men or heaven forbid perhaps it even indicates they Are better Drivers. But one thing cer Tain any one of us who have teenage Drivers in the family know that insurance rates rarely go up if it s a. Daughter. If your son drives then the rate really jumps and that should prove something. In the morning mail the readers write dear or. Telpner.
