And that s what the scottish did when they Defeated United Weston 3-0 in the final of the Manitoba soccer championship at Alexander Park monday night. So the scots Are one up on their old rivals in the Best of three series. They meet again wednesday night. The Weston boys threw away two Good chances to score when they blew a couple of penalties from the 12-Yard spot. In the first half the referee ruled Kuno Mirwald handled the Ball in Side the 18-Yard line. Goalie Johnny Vandermulen of the scottish out guessed Ian Chesser when he made one terrific leap to grab the Ball at the foot of the upright. Then in the first minute of the second half Weston threw their second penalty out the window. Jimmy Moore shoved Alex Strinyi off the Ball. The scots were loud in their claims that it was no penalty but the ref Eree pointed to the 12-Yard spot. This time Jimmy Napier took the penalty kick and again Johnny Vandermulen pulled off a Fine save when he smothered the Ball at the foot of the up right. The Weston boys had the Bene fit of the Strong wind in the first yet it did t do them any Good for they were one Down at the half Way Mark. Fellow defender breezed in to Boot the Ball away. The scottish scored in the first 15 minutes through a Fine piece of triangular work. Johnny a Juta who took Jimmy Murphy s place at outside left relayed the Ball to Don Mackenzie. The Weston forwards could t get the hang of the fierce Breeze and were Seldom but a Long drive from Jimmy Napier forced the scottish goalie to step Lively to Clear. The scots got a big fright in the very first minute. Vandermulen dropped the Ball on Bis goal line but a Don Mackenzie fired the of the target and then Johnny Addison s blast hit the Weston Post. Close on half time there was a scramble in the Weston Goalmouth but the Ball was eventually cleared. The Weston better in the second half when facing the wind. They were often dangerous but a stubborn scottish defence staved off disaster. All three of the scots goals came from triangular plays. Don Mackenzie slipped the Ball to Johnny Addison on the right Wing. Addison centred the Ball to Johnny Baluta who lost no time rifling it past the helpless Weston goalie. And it was another three Way move which led to the scots third goal from Addison to Baluta to Mackenzie who hit the Weston net from close Range. Even though the Weston lads blew two penalties the scottish deserved their Victory. But the margin should have been smaller.
