Please sign us Plain disgusted the sporting sports editor Many people picture a newspaper sports editor As a myopic crotchety old fogey who never comes closer to a sporting event than his television set. Maurice Smith our sports editor disputes this completely and has almost burst his buttons with his latest Victory As a member of the pro am Golf championship team. Of course he had a Little help from Moe Norman and Tommy Johnson of the Boston Bruins. What pleases Smith the most is that he can now lord it Over Jack Wells who won the Grey owl tournament at Clear Lake last june. Anybody can win those Little country Tournai or. Smith reportedly told or. Wells this week with a sardonic sneer. The surprising thing is that editor Smith has a Long list of sporting wins. He was on a winning rink of the Western Canada newsmen s Bonspiel the sportsmen s Curling league a past Winner of the press Section of both the hockey Golf tournament and press club Golf tournament two win Ning teams in the sportsmen s Bowling league and his wife was also a Champion in that league. For his latest win or. Smith received a Beautiful red jacket with a championship Crest from the sponsors of the event. It will really complement my wardrobe when i leave sunday for the grand Bahama Island for a few said or. Smith.
