A police report said Charman had just driven his girl Friend to her Home on Thorndale Avenue when they saw another car pull up and a girl get out followed by two youths who appeared to be annoying her. Charman argued with them and they drove off. They waited for him up the Street and blocked his car with theirs As he tried to drive away. Walker and Charman exchanged blows and Wylie picked up a child s tricycle on the Street and Flung it at Charman. Then Walker jumped into Char Man s car and drove it up and Down the Street. Charman ran to Call police from a neighbouring House after Wylie had again tried to throw the tricycle at him. Walker and Wylie drove away in their car after they had re moved Charman s car keys and j thrown them away. Besides the assault charge both men pleaded guilty. Wednes Day to charges of causing a disturbance by fighting. Walker also pleaded guilty to theft of Charmar s car keys. Wylie pleaded guilty to taking the car without the owner s con sent and to careless driving. After hearing that the two men had been drinking earlier in the evening magistrate g. L. Cons Ley fined Walker each for the assault and fighting charges and s25 for the key theft. Wylie was also fined for both the assault and the fighting charge for taking the car and for careless driving. Minor fire put out at govt.
