Winnipeg Free Press (Newspaper) - September 18, 1964, Winnipeg, Manitoba Winnipeg free press week of september 20, 1964 Bob Noble talks of television both variety and drama will be featured in a new program. Show of the week a new monday night series to be seen on the Csc to network starting monday sept. 28. The season opener produced by Norman Sedawie will have Donald Harron As Host and Lynn Seymour of the Royal Ballet in her first Csc to performance. Included in the show of the week format will be 14 one hour dramas on contemporary Canadian and Universal themes. Appearing on the first program with the Vancouver born Ballerina Lynn Seymour will be Christopher Gable another rising Star of the Royal Ballet Singer Betty Robertson Maynard Ferguson and his band comedian Dave Broadfoot the Billy Van four vocal group the Kevin Carlisle dancers and the Gino Silvi singers. Carlisle a new York choreographer dancer formerly of the Garry Moore show is per forming As Well As handling choreography for the production numbers on the first program. Show of the week will offer a varied format. Ingredients of the series include dramas four Wayne and Shuster hours four european produced variety shows under the title instant to six Csc produced variety specials six programs in which Wayne and shyster take an affectionate look at great of past and present including w. C. Fields Jack Benny and Burns and and three Perry Como specials on pre release from Abc in the United states. Big Christmas special among the Csc produced specials will be Scrooge musical version of Charles Dickens a Christmas Carol Star ring Cyril Ritchard in the title role and Tessie o Shea a mrs. Cra chit with British character actor Alfie Bass i movie credits include the Lavender Hill mob and the millionairess As Bob Cra chit. Produced by Bob Jarvis Scrooge will also feature Don Francks Eric Christmas Elizabeth Cole Loro Farrell Gillie Fenwick. Norman Welsh and other Canadian performers in principal roles. The cast will total More than 80. Presented last season on the stage of the Crest theatre in Toronto with great Success Scrooge has lyrics by Richard Morris Dolores Claman and Ted Wood music by Dolores Claman and a Book by Richard Morris and Ted Wood. It will be telecast on dec. 21. Another variety special on show of the week will be the Hank Snow country special starring Hank Snow Wilf Carter Charlie Chamberlain Gordie Tapp Nee Landry. And the Rainbow ranch boys. Produced by Stan Jacobson this program will be telecast on nov. 9. It was taped in Toronto s studio 7 last june. Canada s top comics return with the first Wayne and Shuster hour of the new season on oct. 19. The boys had a recent Success at the Prince Edward Island Cen Tennial celebrations in Charlottetown with their original stage revue at the new confederation Centre theatre. The guests on their first show of the week program will be announced later. With their four hours and six film specials on the world s great comedians Johnny Wayne and Frank Shuster will be headlining 10 programs this season. Variety spectaculars instant to a series of four variety spectaculars produced by Bavaria atelier a Mph a film company in Munich features top european performers. The programs adapted and edited for Canadian audiences will have eng Lish language introductions spoken by Canadian performers off camera. Regulars on the four programs Are the Kessler twins Alice and seen on the de Sullivan show and other american television variety series and the hazy Osterwald sextet an instrumental song and dance group. The first instant to program scheduled for Tele cast on oct. 12, has a Star lineup including Juliette Greco French Singer Georges guitar Italy s Suva and swe Den s Siv Malmquist both Femme singing and Bill Ramsey an american Singer dancer who works in and choreographer dancer Silvio Francesco. Voice Over introductions will be by Al Hamel and Howie Engel. Jack Creley and american negro actor Billy Dee Wil Liams Star in the first dramatic offering i ran into this Zulu a new play by Malcolm Marmorstein which is destined for Broadway. It will be telecast on monday oct. 5. The second drama to be telecast oct. 26, will be a new television play by Canadas Len Peterson entitled be tween the silences of love. Starring Peter Donat and Pat Ricia Collins and introducing to television audiences a Young actor from Montreal Michael Sarrazin it will be produced by George Bloomfield. Hard hitting drama already on tape for future showing is a two part drama. Who needs an enemy by Jacqueline Rosenfeld a Canadian writer living in new York. Produced by George hard hitting drama stars John Vernon Austin Willis Jack Creley de Mcnamara Anna Cameron Sharon Acker and Irena Mayeska. All movies selected have had production budgets in excess of and Are recent features with current name stars.
