It was used by housewives in biblical times to sweeten drinks fruits and confections. Honey lends such a distinctive taste to foods. Let it sweeten Frost Ings make delicious beverages and provide glazes for meats. Now that the Price of sugar has stabilized at about the same As in october 1963, Honey is the More expensive Sweet however we should use it occasionally As a sweetener. Honey Orange but Ter is delicious on Toast or for a change add it to vegetables in place of the usual butter and seasonings. Hot honeyed Coffee with its Topping of the new cof fee Creamer makes an excellent late evening refreshment. Next time you Are baking Chicken parts give them a Glaze cooking Norah Cherry of Honey and butter. The Chick in will Brown beautifully. Or for a fruit salad instead of Mayonnaise try Honey French dressing. Honey is a Good sweetener for Rice pudding. This particular pudding is St its Best when served Well dulled. You can top it with whipped Cream Sweet ened with a Little Honey and a few grains of Nutmeg added for flavor. For an after five party feat ure bananas that have been marinated in Honey and soy sauce then wrapped in Bacon an broiled. They Are a Fine change from cocktail sausages. Honey Orange butter cup soft butter ?4 cup Honey 1 Teaspoon grated Orange Rind Cream together butter and Honey until Light and Fluffy. Stir in Orange Rind. Chill. Serve on pudding or hot bread. Also Good on beets Sweet potatoes Squash or onions. Yield one cup. Hot honeyed Coffee cup dry instant non Dairy Coffee Creamer cup cold milk 6 Tablespoons Honey 4 measuring cups hot Strong Coffee chill Small bowl and beaters of electric mixer in refrigerator 15 minutes. Blend together Coffee Creamer cold milk and two Tablespoons Honey in chilled bowl. Whip at High Speed on electric mixer until peaks form about five to eight minutes. Add remaining Honey to Coffee stir Over Low heat until Honey Dis solves. Serve Coffee with this Honey whipped Topping. Yield six Servings. Banana Bacon hours d oeuvres 3 slightly Green bananas cup soy sauce 2 Tablespoons Honey 13 strips Bacon Peel bananas Cut in one Inch pieces. Combine soy sauce and Honey. Pour Over bananas. Let stand 30 minutes turning three times. Preheat oven to Broil Cut each Bacon strip in half Cross Wise. Wrap each banana strip in Bacon piece fasten with toothpick. Arrange on rack in shallow pan. Brush with remain Der of soy Honey mixture. Place pan on broiler rack four inches from source of heat. Broil seven to eight minutes turning to Brown evenly. Yield about 24 hours d oeuvres. Deep Apple pie pastry for single crust pie 6 cups sliced apples 1 Tablespoon Lemon juice cup Honey v is Teaspoon Nutmeg Tablespoons butter preheat oven to 425 Deg. F. Roll out pastry into 12-Inch Cir Cle make vents for steam to escape. Place apples in eight Inch round baking dish. Sprinkle with Lemon juice. Sprinkle with Honey and Nutmeg. Dot with butter. Place pastry Circle Over filling. Turn Over hang under. Make High standing rim flute. Seal fluted portion to edges of dish. Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until pastry Brown and apples tender. Serve warm with whipped Cream. Yield six to eight serv Ings. Honey glazed Chicken 2h ibs. Chicken parts 1 Teaspoon Salt it cup butter i cup Honey Wash Chicken parts breasts thighs and Pat dry. Preheat oven to 350 Deg. F. Sprinkle Chicken with Salt. Place in shallow pan. Melt blend in Honey. Brush on Chick in. Roast a hour. Turn Chicken. Brush with Honey butter mix Ture. Roast hour longer or until Chicken tender Basting once or twice More with Honey butter. Yield five Servings. Honey French dressing Viz Teaspoon Salt 4 Teaspoon paprika 3 Tablespoons liquid Honey 4 Tablespoons Lemon juice a cup salad Oil place All ingredients in Small Jar. Cover. Shake thoroughly until Well blended. Chill. Yield cup. Chilled Honey pudding 2 cups milk 1 cup water 9i cup Rice Teaspoon Salt cup Honey 1 egg Teaspoon cinnamon Teaspoon Nutmeg place milk water Rice and Salt i upper part of double boiler. Place Over hot water. Cover. With heat set at Low Cook 1v4 hours or until Rice has absorbed most of liquid. Stir two or three times during cooking. Stir in Honey. Beat egg slightly. Add Small portion hot Rice to egg stir until blended. Add to remainder of Rice in double boiler. Cook two minutes longer. Spoon into serving dishes. Sprinkle with cinnamon and Nutmeg. Chill. Serve very cold topped with whipped Cream if desired. Yield five to six Servings. Apricot Snow 1 egg White a cup Honey 1 Teaspoon Lemon juice 4% of. Can purged apricots baby food 2 Tablespoons skim milk pow Der beat egg White and Honey to Gether until very stiff meringue forms. Stir Lemon juice into Puree fold in meringue. Fold in milk powder. Pile into dessert dishes. Chill. Yield four Small Servings. Note mixture May be spooned into Small paper cups and Frozen. Baked bananas 6 firm Green tipped bananas cup Honey aluminium foil i cup crashed Graham wafer crumbs 3 Tablespoons Brown sugar 3 Tablespoons melted butter 1 pint Vanilla ice Cream preheat oven to 425 Deg. F. Peel bananas. Brush generously on All sides with Honey. Place each banana on Oblong of foil. Combine crumbs Brown sugar and butter Sprinkle Over top of bananas. Wrap each banana loosely i foil sealing foil with drug store wrap. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from foil. Serve warm with scoop of Van Illa ice Cream. Yield six serv Ings.
