However that s All you can say about them Harold Painter of Portage la Prairie and Oades of fort Rouge sent Howie Wood to the showers for keeps and George Wallis of Glenboro and Fred Drewe of Ross Mere performed the same act on Ernie Boushy Jeff Davis and his men who Fly through the air with the greatest of ease sent Jerry Ste ski and his three Brothers to the cleaners in the Birks Claire Miller vanished from the a tons As the result in losing to Gerry Mckay s sharpies from Brandon while Gerry Duguid took it on the Chin from Ken Sampson of Glenboro but that Guy Harper is still stringing along with Hersh Lerner of. All were two time Losere in the Barry Greenberg wins at Portage Portage la Prairie spec Ial Barry Greenberg who comes from a family with quite a Curling name in Portage started one of his own on saturday night. He romped through the 1965 version of the Portage collegiate Bonspiel without a loss on Friday and saturday and claimed Possession of the Fairbairn trophy emblematic of the first event championship. Greenberg with Pat Boychuk zone winners decided for Consols playoff by Don Blanchard Only nine entries Are needed to Complete the 32-rink lineup which will partake in a doable knockout Competition for the Manitoba title at the Arena. The British Consols is slated to get under Way feb. 15 with the Best of three final feb. 19 and 20. The Winner will represent the province in the Canadian Champion ships at Saskatoon. The list of 21 zone win ners was completed monday. These rinks will be joined by eight from the Manitoba Curling association Bonspiel and one each from Carman Morden and Brandon. Two of the Bonspiel entries have already been decided. Garry Ross finalist in 1964, captured his Home town Carman Bonspiel. Den Nis Loeppky won the mor Den event. The Brandon Winner won t be decided until feb. 13, while the eight Semi finalists of the Birks and Batons events in the Mca Bonspiel will be known saturday. Burke Parker of Dauphin beat Young Ralph Wilson in a two game final to win zone 12. Swan River s Ted Alex Ander won zone 13, and flin flon s Lyle Lavis in the Champ in zone 14. The metro zones were decided earlier and zone is Norm Houck Elm Wood zone 16, Mac Scales zone 17, Hersh Lerner Maple Leaf zone 18, Bob picked valour Road zone Ste ski Grain Exchange zone 20, Terry Braunstein Granite zone 21, Bruce Hudson Strathcona. At third Cam Allison at second and Delwyn Bird at Lead Defeated Bob Horner. 10-8 in the abbreviated eight end final. With Horner were Don Thompson at third Gene ditzy at second and Mariyn love at Lead. Ron Gillespie of Portage finished fourth in the event while Perry Robinson also of Portage was fourth. Bill Patterson built up an Early Lead then had to fight Izard to hang on to a 12-10 Victory Over John Lozanski of South port in the Narvey event final. Paterson with Harold Cress at third Les lie Parrott at second and Alma lament at Lead led 10-6 after eight ends but he managed to stave off a rally by Lozanski who had Don Bedard at third Nancy White at second and Lyhne Kumpala at Lead. Terry Owens of Highbluff was third while Ralph peach of por Tage was fourth. Wayne troop of Portage with Gerald Yurkiw at third Rhonda Ribordy at second and Tom Bur ton at Lead topped the daily graphic event with an 8-5 Victory Over Murray Cairns. Cairns packed things up after the ninth Murray Malan Chuk of Portage took third in the event while Terry Campbell of Portage was fourth. Forty six rinks opened play in the Bonspiel at 7 . Friday. Fort rink gains final Keno a special Nick Kozak led his rink Back to Kee Watin after ending the Northwestern Ontario Brier play Downs in a fourth place tie with Forl Frances. The Kozak quartet won three and lost four. Fort William won the right to continue on the Brier Trail by sweeping past port Arthur 13-2 in a Post round Robin playoff of their own. Each Lakehead team had a 6-i record after the round Robin concluded. The fort Wil Liam skip is Tommy Todd or. Dryden finished third one game Back at 5-2. After Keewatin and fort Frances red Lake Geraldton and Marathon rounded out the standings. Peg rink scores Quebec a Winnipeg rink by Jim Guy of Kenora ont had a first round in the Francois Jobin Gold cup at this Quebec International Bonspiel monday. The Bonspiel s two senior Citi Zens meanwhile were kicking up their heels like a couple of Frisky a Gowan lock appearing in his 40th consecutive Mca Spiel posted three victories in the select events.
