Officials blamed for Hull s slump Chicago a Tomiris Ivan Chicago Black Hawk manager blasted National hockey league officials Mon Day and said scoring Star Bobby Hull is being fouled out of his Chance to set a single season goal scoring rec Ord. The referees Don t Call a Quarter of the penalties they should against players trying to Check Bobby. He is hooked and held and tripped More than any other player in the league. And because he s As great As he is the refs seem to ignore what Guys do to they do sees wide Impact Ivan thinks the entire league May feel the Impact unless Steps Are taken to improve treatment of Hull. It seems silly to me that the biggest drawing card in the game should be handicapped for being the Best. The average player would be knocked Down by the stuff they pull on Ivani Aid. But he has great strength. They can t drag him Down very often do matter what they do to he won t take a to impress officials. He s too much a gentle Man to use the tactics a Guy like Richard or Gordie Howe use when they were be ing treated the same Way. A few times i be had welts on my Chest four to eight inches Long from just prodding. However such spearing antics Are rare i m Happy to report. When it comes to spearing Jack Stewart one of Detroit s outstanding defence Man a few years Back now a harness racing official had a very effective spearing technique that was harmless As far As the player was concerned. If he was caught a Little be Hind the play be would Spear his opponent in behind the Glove. He would get the end of his stick in the player s Glove. As soon As the opponent got the puck on the Blade he d give the player s hand or Glove a Tittle shove. The player would lose control of the puck. If they were going in a Corner at the time and Stewart followed up with a body Check nine times out of ten he would come up with the puck. One of the most common types of spearing is to Jab a player in the calf of the leg or the Back Forsythe represents n. Ontario Kenora ont.
