In regard especially to the sentence passed upon Kenneth Leishman it would seem that in irishman s Case this word implies the elimination of about 15 years of his jail sentence. A the word concurrent Means the same thing when used by a lawyer As it does when used by anyone else running together or at the same time. Thus if a prisoner is sentenced to two 15-year terms in prison for two different offences and the sentences Are to be served concurrently or at the same time he will be in prison Only 15 years. Saturday s answer by Arlene b1l1nkoff fantastic voyage produced by Saul David directed by Rich Ard Fleischer screenplay by Harry Kleiner with Stephen Boyd Arthur Kennedy and Donald Pleasance at the Capitol. Fantastic voyage proves to be More fascinating in concept than in fact. The film written in stilted cliches and acted in a self conscious manner should really rank no higher than the average science fiction film which used to be turned out with monotonous regularity from Holly Wood and now emanate from Japan. But it deserves mention since for the first time the weird adventures of the usual intrepid group of scientists lakes place within the body instead of some out lying planet. Instead of rocket trips through space voyage offers a submarine ride through the watery stretches of arteries veins and capillaries. Corpuscles which resemble red and Blue balloons carrying oxygen to and from the heart replace comets and meteors. And in place of the Normal run of gory space monsters there Are Little clinging anti bodies w h i c h conveniently cling to curvaceous Raquel Welch Aud big menacing while corpuscles which from a Dis Tance resemble Cotton balls and in close up remind one of the soap suds that keep one s clothes really the cast also make a scheduled Stop at the brain and several detours to the heart lungs inner ear and the Eye. In sum. It s rather a Cooks tour of the body. As a tour it s interesting but could have been enhanced if the tour director had kept his Spiel to a minimum. The plot Cone Ems the efforts of a group of doctors and a government agent to operate on the brain of a famous scientist. Because it is impossible to get to the damage from the outside the team and the submarine Are miniaturized and injected into the blood Stream. The agent is along for the ride because oae of the team is suspected of working for the other As a pure adventure Story its uniqueness of setting is almost enough to carry it through. Art and set directors have outdone themselves in visualizing and realizing the voyage. Bui almost everyone else connected with the film has done his Best to ruin it. The screenplay written by Harry Kleiner and adapted by David Duncan Calls for the usual conflict Between the Man of logic and the Man of Faith. And by the third time Arthur Kennedy goes into a rhapsody on the Infinity of Man the viewer is ready to leave the submarine Aud swim Home. One also finds it a Little difficult to empathize with miss Welch s raptures of viewing oxygenation. Director Richard Fleischer does Little to Jivon the Pace or help his actors. Competent professionals like Arthur Kennedy and Edmond o Brien play their roles As though they were sleep walking. Miss Welch and Stephen Boyd Don t even seem to be walking. Donald Pleasance adds another portrayal of neurotic frustration to his growing list. Fantastic voyage is interest ing As a View of a hitherto unexplored area for commercial films but in its completed form it leaves much to be desired. The new morality evident in the United states is attributed to the combination of these circumstances said Gower Markle director of education for steelworkers of America. The increasing complexity of our technology and Economy j demands More education study and preparation thus requiring youth to stay in school longer and increase their period of economic dependence. Winnipeg water hottest Winnipeg has the most radio Active tap water in Canada according to a recent Federal government test but City officials say nothing can be Donn about it.
