Rangers dropped hand grenades from the second floor of their Headquarters at Viet Cong who had penetrated three lines of barbed wire to the court Yard. After filling the court Yard with smoke from smoke grenades the rang ers counter attacked and routed the enemy. In recent months my Tho knew that the Viet Cong were coming closer to the City but it has been years since my Tho was attacked by Viet Cong troops. The City has grown rap idly to about people because of the War in the Countryside and because of its Prosperity. It is the first important City South of Saigon and supplies much of Saigon s food from its Rice and vegetable1 Fields. Vegetable farming was pushed by american advis ers and it was a great Success Here. Now Highway 4 which must the produce to Saigon is closed but in 48 places in Dinh Tuong province both North and West of my Tho with main Bridges out and one Bridge on.
