The surtax will expire on june 30, 1969, unless Congress decides to abandon it earlier if the Economy slows too much during the Winter quarters or extend it if the budget needs continue As Strong As they Are currently. The legislation also continues until Jan 1, 1970, the present seven per cent sales tax on automobiles and 10 per cent Levy of Telephone service that had been scheduled to fall to two and one per cent respectively last april 1. In the interim companies continued in most cases to collect excise taxes at the 10 per cent and seven per cent rates on instructions from the internal Revenue service.
