Ltd., has been unanimously recommended by Ashdown s Board of directors for accept Ance by the shareholders. A press release issued jointly Friday by Nathan Starr executive vice president of Ackland and p. L. Ashdown executive vice president of Ash owns said the offer is to Purchase All the issued and outstanding common shares of Ash owns without distinction Between class a and class b. It is believed that the Ackland offer will be accepted immediately by members of the Ashdown family which controls approximately-53 percent of the voting Purchase Price will be a share payable in whole by issuing on a share for share basis a new class of six Pei cent cumulative redeemable convertible preference shares o. Ackland with a Par value o a share. Ackland indicated application will be made to new preference shares on the Tor onto and Winnipeg Stock exchanges providing there is sufficient distribution of the new shares. As there Are about 600 Ashdown s shareholders it is expected that the shares will be in fact listed if the Ackland offer is que. Govt May step into school crisis Quebec up education minister Jean Guy Cardinal pledged Friday the Quebec government will intervene in the St. Leonard school crisis if the local Board does not take action in the Best interest of the Mont real suburb s school children. Cardinal told reporters following a meeting with the five member St. Leonard school Board that if the commissioners decision in the crisis does not satisfy the government it will have to intervene. Representatives of towns and municipalities in Eastern Mani Toba last week agreed to form East Man an Eastern Manitoba development corporation. Sixty five mayors Reeves and councillors were present at the meeting at wendigo resort near Lac Dubonnet. They agreed on behalf of 95 per cent of the municipal governments in the area to join the corporation.
